Booking

I have sent an inquiry and haven’t received any feedback. What is the reason?

Usually, we respond within 24 hours. For weekend inquiries, we will respond on Monday during the day. If this timeframe has already passed, please check your spam folder. It is possible that the email was marked as spam. If you still can’t find an email from us in the spam folder, please send us an email with your name, the desired booking period, and the preferred vehicle to info@ecar-rent.com. We will respond as soon as possible!

Until when do I have to transfer the rental amount?

The invoice amount and the deposit must be received by us before the vehicle handover. It is advisable to transfer the payment at least one week before the start of the rental to ensure the vehicle handover.

How much is the deposit for the different models?

The deposit for our vehicles is €1000 per vehicle and booking.

Where exactly does the handover of the booked vehicle take place?

Here you will find detailed information about our locations as well as details about handover and return locations. These details are also available in your handover agreement.

Booking Conditions

Which vehicle will I get? (Color, model, etc.)

Your booking is assigned to the vehicle category you have selected. Exact equipment details and colors are not fixed due to the continuously changing vehicle fleet or possible vehicle breakdowns. However, we strive to accommodate preferences in this regard.

How many kilometers are included in my booking?

All our offers specify mileage restrictions. More details can be found here. Additional kilometers will be billed at €0.30/km.

Can I drive the vehicle abroad, and are there any fees?

Trips to EU countries are possible without an additional charge.

Can multiple people drive the vehicle, and is there a cost?

Up to four people can drive the vehicle during a rental. All drivers must be at least 25 years old and present a valid driver’s license at the vehicle handover. You can also send copies of the driver’s licenses by email in advance. There are no additional costs.

Can I rent accessories (charging cards, CHAdeMO adapter, or similar) for my vehicle rental?

For your booking, we provide special charging cables (CHAdeMO adapter, 32A charging cable, camping adapter, etc.) for a fee. Currently, we do not offer charging cards.

Do I have to buy an Austrian highway vignette for my rental?

No. All vehicles are equipped with (mostly digital) vignettes for Austrian highways.

What is included in the rental price?

Typically, the following aspects are included:

  • Free kilometers based on Fair Use
  • Liability insurance
  • Comprehensive insurance
  • VAT
  • Winter-ready tires (for the duration of the winter tire obligation between 01.11. and 15.04.)
How large is the luggage volume for the rented vehicle?

Tesla Model 3:
Total cargo volume (front + rear): 425 liters

Tesla Model Y:

Front cargo volume: 117 liters
Rear cargo volume: 850 liters

Range and Charging of the Cars

How far can I go with a full charge, and how long does it take?

The charging time of the vehicle depends on the size of the battery, the power source, and the vehicle’s potential charging capacity. The larger the battery, the longer a complete charge takes. Additionally, the charging capacity of the power source and the vehicle plays a role.

All our vehicles have the ability for fast charging and are suitable for longer journeys.

How does charging the vehicles work?

If you have never driven an electric vehicle before, we will gladly explain everything to you during the handover. In general, the process is simple: First, connect the charging station and the car with the charging cable. At some stations (e.g., Tesla Superchargers), the charging process starts automatically. Otherwise, the charging process must be started manually. Usually, instructions for starting and ending the charging process are provided at the charging stations or appear on the display with corresponding indications. It may be necessary to identify yourself at the charging station with a charging card before you can plug in the charging cable. If you encounter any issues with the charging station, please call the operator’s service hotline. (The service hotline number is usually displayed on the charging station.) All our vehicles are equipped with a Type 2 charging cable for charging in Europe, but many stations already have the cable integrated.

Where are the nearest charging stations near the handover/return locations?

For information on charging stations in your area, you can use the following links:

Numerous apps such as Stromtankstellen (Android only) or Intercharge are also available.

When should I charge the vehicle?

Ideally, the charge level should be between 10% and 80-90% of the battery capacity. The lower 10% serves as a good reserve in case the desired charging station is occupied, and you need to look for an alternative charging opportunity. The charging speed is usually slow at a high or very low charge level, so it takes a long time to charge the first/last 10% of the vehicle. To reach the destination as quickly as possible, it is not advisable to always charge the vehicle fully or drive it completely empty. Charging the vehicle fully is recommended only before a very long journey or when the charging options at the destination are unknown (best done the night before at a Schuko or industrial socket at home).

I want to drive a long distance with the electric car – is that possible?

If you want to drive a long distance with the electric car (e.g., 400-500km), that’s not a problem. The key is having access to fast charging. All our vehicles can utilize the ever-expanding network of fast charging stations. For such a journey, it usually suffices to pause 1-2 times for about 20-40 minutes to charge the vehicle. The frequency and duration of charging depend on the vehicle and the charging stations used.

Are charging cards included in my booking?

No. If a charging card is needed, you must acquire it independently. For the rental of a Tesla vehicle, charging cards are not necessary due to the Supercharger network.

What are the costs for charging the booked vehicle?

Prices for charging at Tesla Superchargers: The specific prices for each Supercharger station are displayed on the Tesla touchscreen in the popup window of the selected plug symbol on the map.

For other vehicles, we recommend either charging with an RFID card or using independently acquired charging cards. Prices vary greatly depending on the charging station operator and roaming fees, so we cannot provide exact information about charging costs for non-Tesla vehicles.

Why are the charging stations sometimes slower than expected?

The charging capacity of the vehicle depends on the vehicle model and the charging station. Some charging stations can charge only one vehicle at a time, while at others, you share the charging capacity with other electric vehicles. Additionally, the charging capacity depends on the charge level and the outside temperature. This also varies significantly from vehicle to vehicle.
